Krnov has preserved much of its history. It is situated at the confluence of the Opava River and the Opavice River near the border with Poland. Krnov is known for its textile industry, as well as its organ factory. Rieger-Kloos organs are played in churches and concert halls, literally, around the world.
The town hall is located in the square in Krnov. This building is especially interesting because of its decorated lookout tower that is open to visits and provides regular tours. In the centre, you can admire many churches and a unique original synagogue in the Moorish style.

Architect Leopold Bauer, who shaped the look of many towns, is a native of Krnov. You can see his buildings in Vienna, Moravia and especially in Silesia. He built the famous Breda department store in Opava and the Priessnitz building in the Jeseník Spa.

Leopold Bauer

Leopold Bauer left behind important buildings, such as the Breda & Weinstein department store in Opava, the Priessnitz sanatorium in the Jeseník Spa and the Shooting House in Krnov.  This native from Krnov also designed prestigious buildings in Vienna and constructed buildings in many different places in Moravia and in Silesia. One of his last commissions includes the Austrian National Bank in Vienna.

There are hardly any locations with as many view-towers as around Krnov. Most people who love views are familiar with the Cvilín view-tower on Cvilín Hill above Krnov. Once there, you can also visit the Baroque church and the ruins of the Gothic castle. An educational trail will take you to the Hans Kudlich View-Tower above Úvalno. You can also see the large countryside of the Osoblaha region from a non-traditional metal view-tower, which resembles a border guard watchtower, on Hraniční Hill.

If you and your friends like to go out at night and enjoy some good music, you can visit the Kofola music club, where hundreds of different bands play during the year.
