One of the classic mountain lodges in the Těšínské Mountains, which has retained its original atmosphere, is the chalet Gírová below the peak of the same name that is situated near the border with Poland and Slovakia.
The cottage has stood here since the 1930s and you can still enjoy specialties of Gorol (local mountain-folk) cuisine. The cabbage soup and gnocchi are famous.
In the vicinity of the cottage are rocks called
Devil's mill, where according to legend, the devils meet with local witches. Gírová passes over the top of the watershed of the Baltic and the Black Sea. You can also come here to a place called '
Trojmezí' (triple border point) where the three boundaries of the Czech Republic, Poland and Slovakia all meet.
