Leoš Janáček International Music Festival
12 towns, 32 festival days, 34 concerts — that is the international music festival of the Moravian-Silesian region
North Moravia and Silesia
To commemorate the 90th anniversary of composer Leoš Janáček’s death, a new music festival celebrating classical music and more was established in 2018, merging two significant previous festivals — Janáčkův máj and Janáčkovy Hukvaldy. The individual concerts of Europe’s best artists will take place at different venues in the Moravian-Silesian region.
For five weeks, you will have the opportunity to visit Ostrava, Hukvaldy and 10 other local towns for a chance to see concerts by personas such as pianist Sergei Babayan, violinists including Renaud Capuçon, Milan Paľa, Ivan Ženatý, Isabelle Faust, members of the Toulouse Philharmonics, conductor Kristjan Järvi or our “fellow countryman” pianist Tomáš Kačo, as well as many others.
Besides music, you may look forward to dance and theater performances, expositions, workshops with artists and much more.
