The Janáček May Music Festival, which boasts a 40-plus-year history, offers two weeks of the finest classical music.
Every spring, this prestigious musical event hosts renowned soloists, conductors and ensembles from the Czech Republic and, likewise, around the world.

Leoš Janáček

Leos Janacek was born in 1854 in the mountain village of Hukvaldy. He studied music in Brno, Prague, Vienna and Leipzig. In Brno, he founded a conservatory and, as a young composer, conducted the memorial service for Johann Gregor Mendel.

In their own signature styles, these illustrious guests present works by the musical greats. Janáček was born in nearby Hukvaldy and this festival—dedicated to one of the most famous Moravian-Silesian natives—is the Moravian equivalent of the Prague Spring, regularly generating great interest with music enthusiasts.
