The peak of Spruce mountain is a favourite for everybody who wants to have a physically demanding ascent but prefers to avoid crowds. Spruce is, at a height of 1276 meters above sea level, the second highest mountain in the Beskydy Mountains and at its peak there are no refreshments, so only hard-core hikers venture here.
The stream 'Bučací' flows down the mountain-side creating huge cascades of waterfalls until spilling into a mountain stream at the foot of the mountain. On the way to the summit, you can draw from a good supply of water in the well called Tajemná Řásnovka (Mysterious Řásnovka).

The centerpiece of the peak is a place where people, under the previous regime, dared to commemorate Jan Palach and John Lennon whose memorials are still here today. The memory of the hockey coach Ivan Hlinka was added later. From a small plateau below the summit, there are views of Ostrava and parts of Beskydy.
