Vysoká Hole, the second highest summit of the Jeseníky Mountains, is a part of the ridge trail from Ovčárna to Jelení Hřbet. The historical border between Moravia and Silesia was located near the summit and you can still see a sandstone border rock from the 17th century.
The plateau, created on this ridge, drew the attention of generals. This is where the Czechoslovak army performed artillery exercises in the 1920s and the German Luftwaffe built a field airport 1,400 meters above sea level. Vysoká Hole provides beautiful views of Mount Praděd, Mount Dlouhé Stráně and other mountain summits, as well as Bruntál and Opava. It includes Velká Kotlina, the most unique natural part of the mountains and one of the most important botanical locations in the entire Czech Republic and Central Europe.
