The Wesselsky Watermill can be recognised by its fairytale creature named Rarášek. Rarášek is a small sprite who occasionally takes on the guise of a hare, black chicken, or a ginger cat.
In this 16
th-century mill, he most often likes to turn into a cat that likes to accompany young visitors. Rarášek will not only guide you through the
Wesselsky mill, but also show you all of the interesting mechanical devices that made it all function. This means that you will see the giant wooden waterwheel and the almost three-kilometre long mill race that brings water
from the Oder River all the way to the mill.
Anyone interested in taking Rarášek home as a souvenir can buy a lookalike doll of the real Rarášek before he turns himself into a cat. The Wesselsky Watermill is one of the places where tourists can explore Pohádkové Poodří (Fairytale Poodří).
