Make a half-day trip to Karlova Studánka
. This spa town with the cleanest air in Europe offers several pedestrian trails. One of them leads to the mysterious Roland’s Stone.
The trail starts at the Libuše spa house. There is a steeper ascent at the beginning, but the result is worth it when you get to Roland’s Stone — a large cliff with a cross, offering gorgeous views of Jeseníky. Many legends surround this site. According to one of them, the devil himself cast a stone here, aiming at the church in Karlova Studánka. Another legend tells the story of unrequited love of a nun, who ended her misery by jumping off this cliff.
From this point on, you will only descend. Following the water trough will take you to a majestic waterfall, a major tourist attraction in Karlova Studánka
. From here, you can head down to town and when you get to the Silesian House (Slezský dům), you will find yourself at the bottom of the waterfall you had admired from atop.
The walk then leads through the other side of Studánka, by the little church and summer spa, back to Libuše.
