]]> Ostrava Zoo has undergone a significant transformation over the last few years, with the construction of many new pavilions, large natural enclosures and walk-through exhibitions. You will feel like you are in another part of the globe in the Asian Ungulate Safari, Amazonia or Wetlands, for example, and children will surely be delighted by the On the Farm exhibition with domestic animals that they can pet and feed.

In the extensive botanical park you can walk through 6 kilometres of nature trails leading, among other things, to an exposition with the largest collection of rhododendrons and azaleas in the country and Slovakia. For example, the unique trail winding through the wetland ecosystem with giant models of reptiles and amphibians is also great.

Various events and lectures are held every month at the zoo, and guided animal feedings are also very popular. However, there are also facilities for families, a number of play areas and playgrounds for children, hundreds of benches to relax on, rest areas and, of course, food stalls. And if you or the kids get sore feet, you can take a ride around the zoo on the Zoo Train or Safari Express.

]]> You can reach what is probably the longest glass viewing platform in Europe by following a 600-metre-long path winding between and above the treetops, but you can also get there by crossing a 100-metre-long suspended Himalayan footbridge.

The trail, which has been built about 250 metres from the top station of the cable car leading from Trojanovice to Pustevny and is wheelchair accessible, includes a 22-metre high cascading tower, at the top of which you will find yourself 1.099 metres above sea level. In good weather, you can see the Jeseníky Mountains and the Great Fatra Mountains from here!

In prehistoric times, people used to live in the area above the original river corridor of the Olše (the Olza river) a few centuries BC and in the 8th century, Slavs built their settlement on this site.

]]> It is this original Slavic settlement that is commemorated in Archeopark Chotěbuz-Podobora that has gradually formed here under the supervision of historians. Visitors can see how the original inhabitants of the area lived, in what kind of dwellings they lived and how they farmed. Regular events show a true picture of life at that time, including period clothing and livelihoods. The village is surrounded by wooden stakes that made up the former fortifications.
 
Archaeologists have found axes, knives and arrowheads as well as unique iron shackles that were used in the slave trade. An interesting find was that of bones of a dog, probably a greyhound, which demonstrates that the dog was a pet as early as the 8th century and had become a human-helper by the time the Slavs.
 
Chotěbuz is an absolutely unique example of a settlement in Těšínské Silesia (the Těšín area of Silesia) and the complete Moravian-Silesian Region. In the immediate vicinity of the settlement, you can visit the  Rybí dům (the Fish House), a facility with giant aquariums and hundreds of different fish. And there is also a completely unique church – St. Peter of Alcantara, which stands on undermined foundations and is therefore inclined, like the tower of Pisa.
