Find out what it is like to look at the Beskydy Mountains from the treetops and let the adrenaline flow through your veins as you stand almost 30 metres above the ground with "only" glass under your feet.

You can reach what is probably the longest glass viewing platform in Europe by following a 600-metre-long path winding between and above the treetops, but you can also get there by crossing a 100-metre-long suspended Himalayan footbridge.

The trail, which has been built about 250 metres from the top station of the cable car leading from Trojanovice to Pustevny and is wheelchair accessible, includes a 22-metre high cascading tower, at the top of which you will find yourself 1.099 metres above sea level. In good weather, you can see the Jeseníky Mountains and the Great Fatra Mountains from here!

Lovers of views and seekers of lookout towers will appreciate the simple wooden structure in Hošťálkovice, which allows you to enjoy the view from a height of eight metres above the ground, where the whole of Ostrava lies under the feet of visitors and behind it the panorama of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains with the queen of these mountains, Lysá hora.

The landscape in the vicinity of Bílovec and Fulnek is slightly undulating and therefore even a hill like the one called Děrenský with its height of 395 metres above sea level allows a beautiful view of the Beskydy Mountains with the typical shape of the highest peak, i.e. Lysá hora, and the Ostrava Basin. A good orientation point is the tower of Trúba Castle in Štramberk.

This viewpoint is located near the small village of Děrná, which is connected with the long history of the Moravské Kravařsko region. Written records of the village date back to the 13th century, but settlement here was probably already a hundred years earlier. In addition to the viewpoint, there are a number of old stone wayside crosses and shrines in the vicinity, which remind us of the history of the area.

The possibility to climb the church tower must be arranged at the local parish. The Church of St. Bartholomew is famous for the oldest bell in Moravia.

It is one of the most famous deposits of semi-precious stones in Moravia and the whole Czech Republic. Many collectors have agates or crystal crystals in their collections. Nowadays, semi-precious stones are rare in this locality, but the hill is a popular place for a romantic walk with a view of the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains. The town of Příbor is literally in the palm of your hand.

The so-called Black Tower rises in Fulnek like a beacon on the shore of the sea. Visitors can recognize it by its black roof, which is shaped like a military helmet. The sound of the bell from the tower greeted tennis player Petra Kvitová when she returned home to Fulnek in 2011 with a fresh Wimbledon winner's trophy.

The black tower was part of the town’s fortifications and served as a belfry and later as a bell tower. It forms part of the baroque centre of Fulnek, one of the most important towns in the Moravské Kravařsko region. Today, the Black Tower houses a bell dedicated to St. Catherine, which was donated to Fulnek in 1995 by former local citizens of German nationality living in Germany after their displacement after the Second World War.

The bell is reached by 64 steps up a steep wooden staircase. The tower is open to the public only on certain festive days, but it is being considered for regular access for tourists and visitors to the historic town of Fulnek.

The wooden lookout on Landek Hill stands in the place where the inhabitants of the Slavic settlement guarded the Amber Trail as early as the eighth century. Even today, when you stand on this spot, you understand that Landek was a strategic place.

From the seven-metre high tower standing on a perch above the confluence of the Ostravice and Odra rivers, you can enjoy a view of Ostrava, which forms the foreground of the panorama of the Beskydy Mountains. The Odra River flows deep underfoot.

The viewpoint is one of the stops on the educational trail that guides visitors through Landek and introduces them to the history of this place. Landek could be described as the cradle of the birth of human civilization in the Ostrava region. As early as 25 thousand years ago, prehistoric people lived here and for the first time in the world used coal to keep the fire going. The proof of human life is, among other things, the extraordinary discovery of a small statue of a woman, the so-called Landek or Petřkovice Venus.

The history of coal mining in the Ostrava region began to be written many thousands of years later in the nearby Anselm Mine, which is now a mining museum.

Wine was supposedly grown on Vinná hora (Wine Mountain) in the past. Legends say that it was so bitter that it was abandoned. Today, Vinná hora is a place with a nice view of the countryside and the town of Hlučín. In good visibility you can even see Praděd.

Supposedly, a medieval fortress used to stand here, but there is no trace of it or any remnants of the walls. It is common, however, that stone castles and fortresses were dismantled by the inhabitants of the adjacent villages to build their houses, so the castle could have disappeared completely. Hlučín history enthusiasts have also come up with the idea that a farmhouse was built on the foundations of the castle, which still stands on Vinná hora today.

In good weather, you can see as far as the Tatras or the Polish plain. The wooden tower was named “Skalka” because Moravian Hill is all rock.

A very similar lookout tower to the one at Holčovice stood at the top of Mount Smrk in the Jizerské hory until the end of the Second World War.
