Father of the Nation, the savior of the Czech language
Frantisek Palacky was born on June 14, 1798 in Hodslavice Lutheran priest in the family and the village schoolmaster. After his studies in Kunín, Trenčín and Bratislava he left in 1823 to Prague. In Prague soon became provincial historiographer of the Czech kingdom and editor of the Society of the National Museum in Bohemia. After 1848 he became the head of Czech political life as chairman of the Slav Congress in Prague. He died on May 26, 1876 in Prague.
Is the author of History of the Czech Nation in Bohemia and Moravia (1836 - 1876, 2nd ed. 1870-1872) and editor of collections of ancient sources letopisové path from r. 1378 to r. 1527 (1829), Czech Archive (since 1840) Urkundliche Beiträge zur Geschichte des Hussitenkrieges von dem Jahre 1419 an (1872-1873), Documenta Mag. Johannis Hus vitam ... (1869) and others.
