Štramberk

The slender, stone tower with a gabled roof rises above the town of Štramberk. The tower is the remains of a castle that has been standing here since the thirteenth century to protect merchants on the trade route to Hungary. Today the tower is a very popular lookout which can not be missed by any visitor to the town. Spiral stairs lead up to a wooden walkway from which open shutters lead on all sides.

Rom the top of the tower you will see the picturesque town of Štramberk which lies directly beneath your feet and it stands out against the background of the surrounding hills. The Beskydy Mountains stretch out on the horizon and in clear skies you can see the Jeseniky mountain range. There are superb views toward Ostrava where the wide plains of the Moravian Gate spread out before you with the villages and towns around Ostrava and Frydek-Mistek.
