Church of St. Bedřich

Not quite a typical wooden church stands in the 19th century mountain village of Bílá , which looks as if it arrived here from Norway or Sweden.

The tall and slender tower of the church is reminiscent of the building that these countries presented at the famous Vienna World’s Fair in 1873 (našla na https://www.wien.info/en/art-culture/vision/worlds-fair-435328). The technique used by the carpenters is the same as that used by Norwegian temple builders in the eleventh century.

The stained glass windows are extraordinary, not only letting light in, but also depicting the Stations of the Cross. The world famous conductor Rafael Kubelík, who spent his childhood in the village of Bílá, was married in the church.
