Šmířák’s mill

A water mill stood in Kozlovice as early as the sixteenth century. The mill wheel was turned by the power of the Ondřejnice River, which was brought here by a dam running along the forest.

The owner of the mill, František Šmiřák, was visited by the musical genius Leoš Janáček when he stayed in his house in the nearby Hukvaldy. Today, the mill has been restored and the chair on which Janáček is said to have sat is part of this modern open-air museum.

Visitors who are brought here by the small train Podhoráček can have a beer Trubač from the nearby brewery in Štramberk. They can also stay overnight in stylish rooms. Of course, there are delicious grilled specialties prepared in the gazebo near the water embankment.
