Mlejn Museum

Ostrava, like other towns, needed not only coal mining and iron forging to sustain its inhabitants.

It was also necessary to bake bread and grind flour, and many local mills were used for this purpose.

One of them has become a museum of mills and milling in Moravská Ostrava and Přívoz. It is located in the building of the former mill called Samuely. During the tour you will learn about the history of the mills in the area, where each mill used to stand and what there is on the site today. In addition, you will see dozens of domestic grinders, for coffee, meat, poppy seeds or breadcrumbs, as well as scales and irons, everything that housewives used in the household before everything could be bought in the supermarket.
