Museum in Bílovec
The newly renovated museum in Bílovec is housed in an eighteenth-century Baroque town house near the local chateau.
The museum was established here in 1925, although the creation of the collections dates back to the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Today, after a complete reconstruction, it is ready to welcome even the most demanding visitors and introduce them to the history of the town and the whole Moravské Kravařsko region, of which Bílovec is an important part.
Tourists are accompanied by an audiovisual programme in which a local scribe, who used to live in the house where the museum is actually located, gives a talk. Interested visitors will thus learn about the importance of Bílovec and also about textile production in the area. A special exhibition is dedicated to the Salcher company, which was founded by the Viennese entrepreneur Mathias Salcher in 1828 as a button factory, later renamed Massag and expanded its production to the safety ski binding, which is still remembered by older skiers under the name Kandahár.
For the youngest visitors, the museum has a Magic Cellar with Picmoch goblins, who are happy to introduce children to the museum.
