The Ostrava Beach Volleyball Tournament was held for the first time in 2018 as a four-star tournament and immediately became a stable stop in the FIVB World Series. In addition to the great atmosphere created by the audience and the perfect organization, the unique contrast of the summer sport and the cool industrial environment of the Dolní Vítkovice area also contributed to this.
In 2022, the format and the name of the series changed to VOLLEYBALL WORLD BEACH PRO TOUR. The level of the tournaments was also modified. The highest category is now called ELITE 16 and Ostrava has risen to this level! With this change, the name of the tournament has also changed, from Ostrava
Beach Open to Ostrava Beach Pro.Thirty-two teams, sixteen women’s pairs, and sixteen men’s pairs, are participating in the ELITE 16 category tournament. The eleven best women’s and men’s pairs in the world according to the world rankings are guaranteed to participate. The twelfth pair is nominated by the home national federation, so by hosting the elite tournament in the Czech Republic, two Czech teams will directly qualify for the top tournament. The other four teams have to fight for their participation in the qualification round, which will be played on Wednesday. Sixteen teams will again start in the qualifying round and the Czech Republic, as host, has the option of awarding two wild cards.
