The 'Museum Těšínska' looks after a collection that relates to the lives and history of the area of Těšín (Cieszyn) in Silesia
. A collection of folk costumes and silver jewelry is unique to the museum and is one of the largest of its type in the Czech Republic.
The Museum is also in charge of several other areas outside Český Těšín (the Czech part of Cieszyn), where its headquarters are located. In Havířov, there is 'Kotulova dřevěnka'
, which is an example of traditional folk architecture hidden away in what is today's urban development. Another object in the countryside is 'Archeopark' in Chotěbuz
where visitors can see an old Slavic settlement.
