The Leoš Janáček International Music Festival

The Leoš Janáček International Music Festival is considered to be one of the most important classical music festivals in the Czech Republic, which is due not only to its scope and number of concerts, but above all to its high quality. The festival concerts regularly feature Czech, European and world performers.

Leoš Janáček

Leos Janacek was born in 1854 in the mountain village of Hukvaldy. He studied music in Brno, Prague, Vienna and Leipzig. In Brno, he founded a conservatory and, as a young composer, conducted the memorial service for Johann Gregor Mendel.
