Border well in the Forbidden Forest
Right on the border between the towns of Odry and the village of Pohoř, right on the old border between Moravia and Silesia, lies a well called Hraniční (Border). While Odry belongs to Silesia, Pohoř used to be part of the Fulnek estate, i.e. it belonged to Moravia.
The forest on the edge of which the tourist finds it is called Široký or Forbidden, because murderers, suicides and vampires have been buried here since time immemorial. No one has dared to set foot here, not even for logging. The forest was simply forbidden, and that gave it its name. Everything changed in the sixteenth century, when people no longer believed in superstition and thus were no longer afraid to enter the forest. Many fights were fought here over logging, which was claimed by Moravian and Silesian loggers. The disputes were only settled by the precise demarcation of the border.
