City Gardens in Opava

The construction of the city park in Opava began at the end of the 18th century.

Originally, it was used as a sheep pasture, shooting range and training ground for the imperial army. But gradually these green areas became a place for romantic walks and various folk festivals.Today, the individual parks form a ring of greenery around the entire city centre and serve for pleasant relaxation and walks. A skate park has been built here and in-line skating enthusiasts use several circuits that run through the city’s gardens.
