Smrk (mountain)
The top of the Smrk mountain is loved by all those who want to make a physically demanding ascent and do not want to meet crowds of people. With its 1.276 metres above sea level, Smrk is the second highest mountain in the Moravian-Silesian Beskydy Mountains, and there is no refreshment facility at the top, so only die-hard hikers climb it.
The Bučací brook flows through the massif of the mountain, creating a massive cascade of waterfalls, and at the foot of the mountain it spills into a mountain stream. On the way to the top, you can replenish your water supply in a well called Tajemná Řásnovka.
The peak is the place where people dared to commemorate the memory of Jan Palach and John Lennon, whose monuments are still there today. Another one has been added, which commemorates the hockey coach Ivan Hlinka. From a small platform below the top of the mountain you can see views of the Ostrava region and part of the Beskydy Mountains.
