Lysá hora Educational Trail

The Lysá hora Educational Trail has a total of 15 stops along its 16.5 km long route. It can be started from two places - from the railway station in Ostravice and from Malenovice, from the car park at Rajská bouda.

The two branches join at the ridge of Lukšinec and the trail continues to the top. To see all the stops, it is therefore necessary to plan a trip from one village over the top of Lysá hora to the other. The route of the educational trail follows marked hiking paths. From Ostravice to the top along the red trail, from Malenovice to Lukšinec along the yellow trail. The route is quite demanding, the total elevation is about 800 m. The tour takes about 4 to 6 hours (in the period without the snow cover). It is intended mainly for hikers. The individual stops of the educational trail are dedicated to natural sights and the history of the local region. Visitors can learn about the history of the villages of Ostravice and Malenovice, the history of tourism in the Beskydy Mountains, the past logging and collection of wood from the mountains, cattle herding and shepherding, and the Beskydy forests and mountain spruce forests in particular, about the dangers of the mountains and their victims, about the development of the landscape, about the largest waterfall in the Beskydy Mountains, about landslides and caves, about plants and animals in the area, about slope movements and about the bandit Ondráš – the lord of Lysá hora.
