Memorial to František Palacký
The house was built in 1796 by František Palacký's father Jiří, who established an evangelical school here, where he himself taught. In the 1970s it was declared a national cultural monument.
The house hosts a permanent interactive exhibition on the life and work of František Palacký, which also includes a brief history of his native village Hodslavice and the chamber of the Father of the Nation with his original birth cradle.
You can also see a number of unique items, such as objects used by Palacký himself, from his top hat to a snuff box and his walking sticks. Among the exhibits, you will also find a cast of a hand, a death mask and an editorial, or ceremonial shroud, in which Palacký’s mother carried the newborn František to church.
