Muzeum Těšínska

The Museum of Těšínsko takes care of collections related to the life and history of the Těšín Silesia region. A unique collection of costumes and silver jewellery is one of the largest such collections in the Czech Republic.

One of the most valuable and rare exhibits on display in the interactive permanent exhibition The Story of Těšín Silesia is the original of the so-called Těrlicko Madonna, an exceptional Gothic painting from the turn of the 15th and 16th centuries. The Museum of Těšínsko has several other branches in addition to its headquarters in Český Těšín. It is worth mentioning Kotul’s wooden house, which is located in Havířov, hidden in the middle of the town. This building is an example of old folk architecture. Another interesting object belonging to the Museum of Těšínsko is the Chotěbuz-Podobora Archaeopark, where you can visit a replica of a Slavic hillfort.
