Theatre in Český Těšín

The theatre was founded after the Second World War and was already then intended to play for various social and therefore also national groups.

The company moved and performed in various places in Český Těšín, including the present-day Piast Hotel opposite the train station. Today, the theatre has its own home stage, plays in Czech and Polish and is the only theatre outside Poland that has a professional Polish ensemble. Těšínské divadlo is one of the main organisers of the International Theatre Festival Na hranici.
