Town Hall in Frenštát pod Radhoštěm

The dominant feature of the Frenštát square, which is a town conservation area, is the neo-Romantic town hall, which was completed in 1890 and began serving its purpose a year later.

It is a two-storey building with an arcade, a tower and a public passage across it. The roof of the town hall is decorated with a balustrade. Above the central arch on the facade there is the emblem of the town of St. Martin. Under the first floor windows there are four stucco reliefs with portraits of Jan Amos Komenský, František Palacký, Josef Jungmann and Boleslav Jablonský.

On the column of the middle arch you can find a memorial plaque of Jiří Raška, a native of Frenštát, a ski jumper, Czech ski jumper of the century and winner of the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble.

A builder from Brno, Antonín Tebich (vice-chairman of the Society of Czech Builders), was called in to build the town hall. He was an associate of Dušan Jurkovič and a friend of Leoš Janáček. The construction was entrusted to the builder Staněk from Valašské Meziříčí.
