Vinná hora near Hlučín

Wine was supposedly grown on Vinná hora (Wine Mountain) in the past. Legends say that it was so bitter that it was abandoned. Today, Vinná hora is a place with a nice view of the countryside and the town of Hlučín. In good visibility you can even see Praděd.

Supposedly, a medieval fortress used to stand here, but there is no trace of it or any remnants of the walls. It is common, however, that stone castles and fortresses were dismantled by the inhabitants of the adjacent villages to build their houses, so the castle could have disappeared completely. Hlučín history enthusiasts have also come up with the idea that a farmhouse was built on the foundations of the castle, which still stands on Vinná hora today.
