Bílovec Chateau
The chateau in Bílovec is open to the public again after several years of reconstruction. It has become a dominant feature of the town and an interesting place to visit. The tour offers not only the insight into the local history, but also into the legends and tales with which the chateau is enveloped.
The Renaissance chateau with elements of Baroque reconstruction is one of the most visited monuments in the town. One of the most interesting places in the chateau is the chapel with the tombstones of the owners of the chateau. The largest part of the chateau collection is occupied by an exhibition dedicated to the last owners of the chateau – the noble Sedlnitzky family of Choltice (or also von Choltitz). Visitors can see, for example, the apartment where the last noblewoman of the chateau lived – Countess Hermína Balbína Sedlnitzká of Choltice.
There is also a Hunting and Gamekeeping exhibition at the chateau, which offers examples of hunting trophies and shows how hunting methods have changed in past centuries.
