Chateau Museum in Bartošovice

The Bartošovice Chateau, which dominates the village and is one of the most important monuments of the Moravské Kravařsko region, is also the seat of the local museum. Visitors can find four different expositions here.

In one of the rooms of the chateau, you can learn about local natives and important personalities, including Jan Amos Comenius. One of the most famous natives of the Moravské Kravařsko region is Johann Gregor Mendel, a native of nearby Hynčice, who is considered the founder of genetics.

Another part of the exhibition is dedicated to the local micro-region, which focuses mainly on active holidays, exploring history and cycling. An unconventional exhibition is dedicated to what the kitchens of housewives looked like in the 1930s, including what the traditional meals were like in this popular tourist area.

Visitors can also explore the historic parts of the chateau, dominated by the beautiful original wooden interior and coffered ceilings, and visit an exhibition in one part that commemorates the historic military infirmary.

The Bartošovice Museum and Chateau is located in a park, which is especially significant because it is home to the oldest plane tree in the Czech Republic.
