The chateau museum in Bartošovice

Bartošovice Chateau, a dominant landmark of this town, is one of the most important monuments of Moravské Kravařsko and is home to the local museum. Here, visitors can look forward to four different expositions.

In one section of the chateau, visitors learn about area natives and prominent figures, including such people as John Amos Comenius. Another of the most prominent natives of Moravské Kravařsko is Johann Gregor Mendel, who was born in nearby Hynčice and is considered to be the founder of genetics.

A second section is dedicated to an exhibit on the local micro-region, which emphasises active holidays, learning about its history, and cyclotourism. One special exposition is dedicated to illustrating what a housewife’s kitchen looked like in the 1930s, including some of the traditional meals in this popular tourist area.

Visitors can also view the historical areas of the chateau, which are dominated primarily by the exquisite original wooden interiors and coffered ceilings. In one additional section, guests can visit the exhibit that presents a historical military hospital.
The Bartošovice Chateau and museum are situated in a park that is renowned for being home to the oldest plane tree in the Czech Republic.
