Červenohorské sedlo pass

The pass, which crosses the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains, was used in the past by merchants travelling between Moravia and Silesia. Today, Červenohorské sedlo is one of the most famous tourist resorts and one of the largest ski resorts in the Jeseníky Mountains.

The dirt road was replaced by a new road in the middle of the eighteenth century to relieve the coachmen who transported coal to the ironworks in Sobotín via the saddle. The ironworks belonged to the Kleins, a prominent business family, who manufactured railway tracks. The Kleins built shelters for the coachmen to sleep, eat and stable their horses, tired from the hard climb.

After a regular bus line began to run through the Červenohorské sedlo in 1911, there was no obstacle to the development of tourism.
