Ostrava Planetarium
The Ostrava Planetarium offers both young and old visitors space experiences in the Planetarium Hall or at the telescope and also playing with interactive exhibits.
The main attractions are the shows in the Planetarium Hall with spherical projection and a digital space simulator. Spherical films are shown here, mostly popularising space, cosmology and other natural sciences. However, there are also musical performances with recorded and live music.
Visitors to the Ostrava Planetarium can look at the real universe through astronomical telescopes during regular public observations or when watching special phenomena such as solar and lunar eclipses. For those more seriously interested in scientific knowledge, popularisation lectures are held in the Cinema Hall. Last but not least, visitors can play with dozens of interactive exhibits in the Experimentarium.
The programme of the Ostrava Planetarium is intended for kindergartens, primary and secondary schools and the general public.
Public observations of the night sky with telescopes are always held after dark on selected days according to the current programme. In summer, visitors can also observe the Sun with special telescopes with filters. All observations take place only in good weather with minimal cloud cover and no rain.
