A guided tour of the Dominican monastery and Saint Wenceslaus Church

If you’d like to learn more about Opava's pearls of sacred architecture—which Saint Wenceslaus Church with its adjacent Dominican monastery most certainly are—then definitely do not miss out on a guided tour.

Experienced guides will show you the presbytery, the Moravian Chapel with its renaissance decorations, as well as individual sections of the monastery: the chapter hall, the monks’ dining room, and the dormitory. You will also take a peek into its unique cellars, paradise garden, and oratories. If you are interested in a tour in a foreign language (German and Polish are offered), tours must be booked a sufficient amount of time in advance.

The tour begins at the Dům umění arts centre, and tickets can be purchased on site upon prior arrangement at the reception desk of the Obecní dům (Municipal House). The duration of the tour is 90 minutes.

Your expert guide will no doubt also recommend other circuits through which you can learn more about the architecture of old Opava or important figures from this city.
