Čertův mlýn (the Devil’s Mill) on Gírová

At the foot of Gírová mountain there is Devil's mill, a rock formation which will catch your attention. According to legend, devils with witches used to gather here. An even older legend tells the story of a devil who came here for one night to build a mill to grind people up. He could not make it in time and fled, leaving his hoof-print in one of the stones.

Those who want to believe in tall tales may do so or rather believe that when Beskydy was covered by a glacier, many rocks were weathered which created caves in various locations. When the glacier melted, it left cracked rock formations and then it was only due to local people’s imagination that created this legend.
