Dívčí Hrad Chateau
The history of the castle and later the chateau in today's village of Dívčí Hrad dates back to the thirteenth century, when it was first mentioned.
During the Bohemian-Hungarian wars, the garrison of the Czech King George of Poděbrady was stationed at Dívčí Hrad. Therefore, the castle became the target of an attack by Jiří’s rival, King Matthias Corvinus of Hungary. The castle was conquered and largely destroyed.
In the following centuries, many new owners gradually repaired and rebuilt it into a Renaissance chateau.
