Healing springs at Hostašovice

A pair of springs rise from the ground near Hostašovice. Although they are in the woods and only about two metres apart, the water composition is completely different which is quite unique. One of the sources is called Kyselka (Sour) and the second Smradlavka (Smelly) which in itself suggests the composition, taste and smell of the water. They are believed to have medicinal properties. Several species of extremely rare plants grow in the vicinity of the springs.

In addition to the two quite different springs that are in Hostašovice, there is also the European watershed. The roof of the barn at house number 23, is the boundary between the waters that flow into the Baltic and the Black Sea. A complete curiosity is Jaščerka spring on the hill Trojačka, whose spring splits after a few meters and flows both north to the Baltic Sea and south to the Black Sea.
