Jurkovičova look-out tower

The lookout tower was built by carpenters who work for the Wallachian Open Air Museum. First, these experts of wooden structures, had to develop drawings based on Jurkovič's design and devise a way to build such a demanding wooden construction. They selected procedures which were used by carpenters more than a century ago and the wood is also a hundred years old.

From the observation deck, you can see the whole area of the Wallachian Open-air Museum and Rožnov pod Radhoštěm and the surrounding villages. The lookout tower is typical of Dusan Jurkovic, who used folk motifs and his buildings are decorated by rich carvings and colorful elements. The most famous buildings of the architect stand on Pustevny.
