Karviná Ponds

The beautiful surroundings of the Olše River contrast with the industrial landscape of northern Těšín.

The Karviná Ponds between the Old Town and Dětmarovice have become a paradise for fishermen, but cyclists and people on horseback also like to ride around them. Deciduous trees grow here in massive ancient avenues. Alder trees, willows and ancient oaks create a wonderful habitat for a variety of animal species and rare plants can be seen in the ponds. Waterfowl nest on the dykes and in the bushes.
