The history of the city up to 1989 is captured in period photographs and three-dimensional objects from life. A 3D film introduces visitors to contemporary Ostrava.

An interesting feature is the rich exhibition of ethnography, where, in addition to historical folk art collections, audiovisual technology captures holidays and customs that are still maintained in the vicinity of Ostrava today. Of course, there is a mining exhibition with a unique collection of mining lamps and instruments.

In the collection section of the museum we can admire the best exhibits of the artistic work of painters, sculptors and the best of handicrafts such as clocks and watches, graphics, glass and porcelain or tin.

The natural history part consists of exhibitions on living and non-living nature. The interactive exposition of nature and landscape of Ostrava region with exhibits of botany, zoology and entomology will definitely attract attention. From May to October, a counselling room for mushroom pickers is prepared for visitors.
