Saint Vojtěch Church

Great pilgrimages have been made to Saint Vojtěch Church, which was built by the Jesuits in Opava in the late 17th century. Today, the church is an example of baroque sacred art.

The portal to the sanctuary is decorated with statues of saints, and the church is incorporated into the building of the Jesuit college. It was here that the Silesian provincial assembly once convened.

The church was an important pilgrimage site, which is has been manifested by the astonishing 4,000 masses it held each year. A baroque Marian Column from the late-17th century stands in front of the church.
