The Castle in Janovice by Rýmařov

The castle in Janovice by Rýmařov is gradually being opened to the public. There, you can see a beautiful knight’s hall and unique wooden ceilings. Every year, a new space is remodelled and opened to history lovers. You can enjoy an exhibition of marionettes that represent different characters from some of the local legends. There are about 40 figures, starting with small elves all the way to the biggest, life-size marionette of Děd Praděd.

Another part of the castle is dedicated to old handicrafts and rural traditions. You can learn how to weave a basket or to bake homemade bread. The castle chapel often holds concerts and different cultural events.

If you are interested in the history of this region, you can visit the museum, which houses artefacts from the Bronze Age in Rýmařov.
