Chateau in Velké Hoštice
The chateau is not only an example of the beauty of Baroque art, but also tells the story of the turbulent history of this region.
The frescoes in the chateau were painted by the important Baroque painter known as Antonio Sebastini. Sebastini decorated churches in Poland, around Bruntál and in his native Prostějov.
The chateau and the whole village are the places mourned by Empress Maria Theresa after the lost wars with Prussia. After the Peace of Versailles in 1920, the village was given to the newly established Czechoslovakia.
Another place that can be visited in Velké Hoštice is the infantry cabin, which was part of the fortification of the Czechoslovak border.
