The chateau park in Kunín

Like the chateau itself, the surrounding park also almost vanished. Today, it is once again a true park where the trees are cared for, making it a popular place for locals and visitors alike to come for a stroll. This park, with its beautiful, tall trees, is a place where newlyweds often come to have their photos taken.

Of course the park has undergone many transformations, even during the height of the glory of the local estate. The French gardens transformed into English-style parks, and various buildings, gazebos, and seating areas were added, including the famous (and now restored) skittle ground. Since 1999, the chateau and park have been under the ownership of the town of Kunín, which, after half a century of deterioration, had the complex restored. Landscapers took advantage of the existing tall trees, some of which are 250 years old and older, and planted new trees and shrubs amongst them. The pride of the park is in the intergrowths of the various trees and shrubs, as well as the stately English oak trees.

Today, the chateau and park help make Kunín a sought-after tourist attraction and one of the greatest gems of Moravské Kravařsko and the entire Moravian-Silesian Region.
