The church in Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem

This wooden church, which stands in Kunčice pod Ondřejníkem, is known to local people as nothing other than the "Russian Church". It originally stood in the village of Hliňanec in Transcarpathian Ukraine. During the period of the 'First Republic', it was disassembled and transported by rail to the Beskydy village of Kunčice.

Here, carpenters re-assembled the church, but the roof and tower had to completely rebuilt. A similar fate befell some other churches that stood in Transcarpathian Ukraine. Some wooden temples from this area stand today in Kinský orchards in Prague, another is in Blansko or in Hradec Kralove.
