Historical heart of Frýdek-Místek

The larger one, in the Silesian town of Frýdek, is situated around Frýdek Square and the chateau. The history of this part of the town dates back to the early fourteenth century, when Prince Casimir I of Těšín acquired this estate from the Czech King John of Luxembourg.

At the top of the square there is the entrance to the chateau, the foundations of which date back to the fourteenth century, when a castle stood here protecting the road between Příbor and Těšín. From the chateau and from the lookout points in the chateau park you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Ostravice River and the Beskydy Mountains.

The historical centre of Frýdek includes the Church of St. John the Baptist, from whose tower you can enjoy a magnificent view of the entire Beskydy Mountains.

The historical centre of Místek is Svoboda Square with archways and townhouses. Here you will find picturesque taverns and cafés. The Church of St. James stands in the corner of the square.
