Jewish cemetery in Frýdek-Místek
The first mention of Jews in Frýdek-Místek dates back to the sixteenth century, when documents state that Jews belonged to the local parish from ancient times. So the original roots of Judaism must be even older.
The most important Jewish family were the Landsbergers, who founded textile factories here. The Holocaust marked the end of the Jewish phenomenon in this area. After the entrepreneurial activities of the Jewish community, factories and schools remained here. There is also a landscaped Jewish cemetery, which is a memorial to this historical era.
