The Jewish Cemetery in Frydek-Mistek

The first mention of Jews in Frydek-Mistek dates back to the sixteenth century, as records show that the parish Místecká had affiliated Jews since ancient times. Therefore, the original roots of Judaism must be even older. The most important Jewish family were the Landsbergers, who founded a textile factory.

The Holocaust marked the end of the Jewish phenomenon in this area. There are still schools and factories here today due to the business activities of the Jewish community as well as a renovated Jewish cemetery which is a pious reminder of this historical epoch.
