Moravian Brethren Museum in Suchdol nad Odrou
The Moravian Brethren Museum in Suchdol nad Odrou is housed in a typical country house. Tourists can get an idea of how the villages of the Moravské Kravařsko region used to live and farm.
The main exhibition space of the museum is dedicated to the events that preceded the Moravian Brethren’s departure for exile at the beginning of the 18th century.
At that time, about 280 inhabitants, followers of the teachings of Jan Amos Comenius, left Suchdol nad Odrou for their faith. Their new home became Horní Lužice, where they founded the town of Herrnhut, in Czech Ochranov. There they restored the Unity of the Brethren and devoted themselves to missionary work.
The premises of the former exchange are dedicated to the Unity of the Brethren and the former barn is the place where the new missionary work of the Moravian Brethren, who are still engaged in evangelisation in many countries of the world, is commemorated.
